Meet Tiger, Geria Giri Shanti Bungalows, Amed, Bali, Indonesia
MEET THE CAT : TIGER
Tiger from Geria Giri Shanti in Bali, Indonesia has a special place in our hearts, because like little Mislee down in Sanur, he was one of the first hotel cats we came across, inspiring the idea for Hotels With Cats. I was so very homesick for our kitties at pawquarters after six weeks travelling and was soooo delighted to find this social boy at the door of my bungalow!
The ginger jungle cat was raised by a neighbour, who sadly had to leave Bali so he was luckily adopted by David and Lisolette, who manage Geria Geri and has been the official "cat in residence" since 2010. He is well known for his ability to demand admittance to any bungalow he chooses. When not lounging around in the garden he can often be found waiting for guests to return from a morning dive to join him for an afternoon nap.
Although there is a dive centre on site, Tiger prefers land activities and often engages in some yoga, although he is often on pawtrol watching the morning dive briefings. Whilst he roams the property freely and usually visits most of the guests on his "rounds" he does have his preferences resulting in returning guests often requesting to stay in "Tiger's favourite bungalow".
Now we know for next time to ask for this room!

WHY VISIT AMED
Before we visited the north east coast of Bali a couple of years ago, we didn't know such a paradise existed and we almost don't want to share it! Amed is a series of protected bays sitting against the backdrop of Mt Agung, three hours north of Denpasar and are much more quiet and less developed than the south. The waters are absolutely clear with a drop of 40 meters 10 meters from the shore, perfect for freediving, scuba diving and snorkelling. Hike Mt Agung (when she's asleep of course), visit nearby water palaces, or sample some of the tasty local eats.
