MEET THE CAT: SNOWBALL
Snowball left her home one snowy winter day, arriving at the door of Swan Hotel Wells in Somerset in the UK. She put her paws up to the window, and it was at that moment she decided to become resident cat! The kind hearted staff didn't know where she came from, and fed her for a month. After realising the tasty treats and daily pats on offer, she never went home.
Snowball takes her role as resident cat very, very seriously. She greets all customers, and is always there to say goodbye. She knows the check in and check out times and never misses her shift. Outside of these times Snowball can normally be found asleep in her basket underneath the General Managers desk or in her other favourite perch on top of the brochure racks - which is directly about a radiator, warm and comfortable, a purrfect place to rest. She is well behaved and knows the areas she is permitted but goes freely everywhere else. Snowball has her own cat flaps and carpet to wipe her paws on after her outside pawtrols. Her favourite treat are 'Dreamies' and it has been known for the general manager to have at least 7 or 8 packets in his desk drawer to reward her for her hard work.
You deserve it Snowball! What a hard working kitty!
SLEEPING QUARTERS AND FACILITIES
This beautiful historic property offers 46 rooms, a couple of unique suites and five self catered apartments, and has been part of the history of Wells since at least the early 15th century. The team are investigating references to the hotel back to the 1300's!
Once a major posting house, the building has direct views onto Wells Cathedral and has played host to many famous people. Wells Civic Society recently played an integral part in helping to install a blue plaque outside the hotel which commemorates some of the famous people who have stayed here. These include Henry VII, Sir Winston Churchill and Anne of Denmark. Along with the beautifully resorted rooms some of the facilities include an on-site gin bar and lounge, and a restaurant. It's one of the go to places in Somerset if you're after a traditional english afternoon tea.
WHY VISIT SOMERSET?
